Helena Keeffe asked people to write speeches for president George W. Bush that would convince the American people that he's had a change of heart about, well, everything. Five students ages 7 to 10 from an elementary school in San Francisco accepted her invitation and here's what they came up with. My favorite quote? "I know I have been a bad president and I have come to the conclusion that that it is because like Dick Chaney I have eaten too many twinkies." Touche.

More Human Than Human

London-based Ron Mueck is a photo-realistic sculpture that puts Madame Tussaud to shame. He started out making props and models for television and film (including Labyrinth) and later turned to hyper-realistic, often massive sculptures of humans. He uses fiberglass resin to achieve the realistic look of the skin. The sculptures freak me out a bit but at the same time I can't look away. Just Don't Wear Them

Um. OK, I suppose I should explain the picture. The law enforcement and military equipment experts over at Shomer-Tec have devised a sure-fire way to keep your cash, important documents and valuables safe from thieves either at home, on vacation on in the laundromat. And it doesn't require any locks, keys or combinations. The Brief Safe is a specially made pair of underwear with a velcro compartment for your um, family jewels. The key is the underwear's "special markings" (their words, not mine) that are sure to discourage any thief from rifling through them. So basically they're suggesting that you hide your goods in a pair of tighty whities with skid marks. They're also suggesting that you add Doo Drops for the sake of realism. I really don't want to get into that.

South Park vs. Family Guy

In case you missed it you should probably know that Trey Parker and Matt Stone take a shot at Seth Green et al. in a recent episode of South Park. The episode features a parody of Family Guy complete with the multiple flash-backs and obscure pop culture references. Kind of reminds me of that time Peter appeared in The Simpsons episode Treehouse of Horror XIII as a Homer clone. I'm not quite sure about the point they are trying to make though: it seems that they are trying to pass Family Guy off as a badly written pointless show. I'd have to disagree but the episode was fun to watch anyway. Here's a clip from the episode. I really hope the writers over at Family Guy take it upon themselves to respond in kind. Maybe it would start an ongoing feud that would escalate to an East coast vs. West coast-type rivalry resulting in the drive-by shooting deaths of Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Seth Green this prompting Nick Broomfield to make a Biggie and Tupac-style documentary about the whole incident. That would be pretty crazy.

Tom and Jerry (Minus Tom)

Have I every introduced you guys to Jerry? Well just in case I haven't, Jerry is just a regular guy. He's allergic to cats, he hates moths and he has a cheap landlord. And sometimes he finds himself in awkward situations like we all do. Except his awkward situations are cleverly chronicled in episodic collage-style flash animations over at It's JerryTime! I bet that's more than you could say about your awkward situations. In The Karate Date, the most recent installment of It's JerryTime!, Jerry makes his way to Toronto. The good people over at It's JerryTime! asked me to snap a couple of shots of downtown Toronto for them rather than use any old stock photography. Of course I was more than happy to oblige (and guess who makes a cameo appearance!). Is it just me or does it look like Jerry is kinda checking me out? Awesome.

Can You Do The Can Can?

The International Canstruction Competition is an annual charity event organized by the Society for Design Administration where structural engineers and architects from various design firms used full cans of food to create amazing structures. The cans of food are subsequently donated to the Food Bank For New York City. And you thought engineers were useless. (By the way, he hot dog won the top prize).

Bad, Bad Blogger

OK, ok I know. I suck. I haven't posted in a while. But believe me when I say it's not cause I don't want to, it's cause I haven't been able to. I know I have been dissapointing you, my loyal readers. I've been a bad, bad blogger. I'm sorry. Unfortunately things will continue to be slow until about May. Then things will pick up again.
