Davy Jones' Special Effects

So I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest on Saturday and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. Sometimes it's nice to see a movie purely for the sake of entertainment. And this movie definitely has all the food groups of an entertaining movie: action, comedy, romance and good looking people. Add in some nicely done special effects and you've got youself a perfect Saturday afternoon. Actually the special effects were quite mesmorizing, especially when it came to the creation of Davy Jones and all the crew on the Flying Dutchman. Their faces were completely created by way of CG using a precise motion capture system developed by Lucasfilms' graphics arm Industrial Light & Magic. The scene where Davy Jones is playing the organ with his tentacles was deliciously nasty and kind of made me feel like a teenaged boy!

I really liked the movie too but Davy Jones and his crew just made me feel queasy. I guess I'm just not that into seafood.

Ha! Ha! Vegetarian joke!
