Seuss Sells
Did you know that before he discovered his talent for rhyming words like "Sam" and "am", Theodore [Dr.] Seuss Geisel worked as an advertising illustrator in the 1920s. You can already see the Seussiness of the characters in his ads. I love how sweet and wholesome these ads seem: they're not trying to dupe you into buying a product, they're telling the gosh darn honest truth. Check out the gallery of his pre-Dr. Seuss advertising work on the University of California, San Diego Mandeville Special Collections Library website. Whoa that's a big link.
