Game of Brains and Brawn

So what do you get when you put chess and boxing together? Well Chess Boxing obviously. I mean really, that wasn't so difficult to figure out, was it? What's that you say? Never heard of Chess Boxing? Well of course you haven't, that's why you read this blog! According to the World Chess Boxing Organization (yes, there's an organization), the "basic idea in chessboxing is to combine the no.1 thinking sport and the no.1 fighting sport into a hybrid that demands the most of its competitors – both mentally and physically." Well when you put it that way I guess it makes sense. And it also makes for some pretty funny pictures. In one game of Chessboxing there are six 4-minute rounds of chess and five 2-minute rounds of boxing with a one minute pause in between each round, so by my calculations (and I could be wrong here) the whole thing lasts 44 minutes. The funny part is that they have to sit there in the middle of the boxing ring, all sweaty in their boxing shorts and mouth guards and everything. Interested in becoming a Chessboxer? Just fill out the form on the WCBO website. Good luck!
